FIP + Spotify = ♥️
Feb 24, 2026 - Version française

The way I listen to and discover music is a bit odd, and not very efficient. Spotify's recommendation algorithm doesn't work for me. I don't use social media, so I'm never up to date with the latest releases. I tried hanging out on /r/indieheads/ but I'm completely impervious to the suggestions I find there. I prefer listening to full albums rather than playlists, and I tend to listen to the same albums on repeat for years.

But there's one radio station that I find truly wonderful for broadening my musical horizons: FIP. I don't know if equivalent stations exist outside of France. An ad-free station that plays music around the clock, with a carefully curated selection. FIP is a station too good to be true. And for the past few years, FIP has been split into several sub-stations dedicated to different genres: FIP, FIP Cultes, FIP Electro, FIP Métal, FIP Groove, FIP Hiphop, FIP Jazz, FIP Nouveautés, FIP Pop, FIP Reggae, FIP Rock, FIP Sacré Français, FIP Monde.

I have a strong preference for FIP Métal, which lets me discover tons of artists I didn't know about. I wanted to be able to easily add certain tracks to my Spotify favorites, so I could listen to the full albums later. And it's actually very easy, because FIP has an API \o/

So I created one Spotify playlist per FIP station. These playlists are updated every hour, with the tracks from the last two hours. You can enjoy them below. The source code isn't thrilling but it's available here.
